How long have you been stamping?
I’d say it’s been about 15 years. My DH and I went to San Francisco and while shopping on Pier 39 I stopped into a shop called Stamp-a-Teria (I’m not sure of the spelling as it’s been so long ago). I purchased a Rubberstampmadness magazine and I guess you could say I was hooked from then on. When I found out they had a store in Sacramento I went there and spent a bundle.

What is your favorite technique?
I’m not really sure I have a favorite. I guess it would depend on the day and if I had just learned something new. I do enjoy the alcohol inks and I have been making mini ATCs.

Favorite stamp company?
There are so many but because of the internet I go crazy with a lot of our OSA vendors such as Art Neko, Stonehouse and About Art Accents.

Favorite Asian stamps?
Geisha, cranes, koi, floral…actually I like them all.

Favorite stamp accessory?
I enjoy using corner punches, Washi paper and Twinkling H2O’s

Favorite colors?
Purple, lavender, all shades of green and of course black red & gold together.

Favorite embellishment to finish a card?
I don’t think I have a favorite.

What is the one tool you couldn't live without?
Double-sided stick tape. It is all I use when layering.

Any helpful tips for the group?
Do things out of your comfort zone. When Chryss first asked me to be SAM my first thought was, “NO!” Then I thought it might stretch my creativity. There are so many talented stampers in this group and even though I’ve been stamping for a long time (I did take a break for a couple of years) I have learned so much from this group.

As a member of the Oriental Stamp Art Group, why do you like stamping in the Oriental theme?
I think it’s the simplicity and beauty. I also love the Washi papers.

Is there any one place you'd like to visit to find rubberstamps, supplies or any other Asian elements?
I’d love to visit the Orient.

What other stamping lists or clubs do you belong to?
Unfortunately there aren’t any local clubs in my town that I know of but I do belong to a couple of groups on line.

What favorite stamping magazines would you recommend?
I like Take Ten and VSN

Published in any magazines? If yes, please list.
No. I’ve never submitted anything to the magazines.

Any other hobbies, crafts or art interests?
I used to sew but haven’t done that for a number of years. I do like to read.

What inspires you to be creative?
I have to say that this group inspires me the most. There is so much talent and everyone is so helpful and generous. The other thing would be deadlines. I have a habit of waiting until the last minute to get a project done.

Any art background?
No. I can’t even draw stick people. When I came across stamping it was wonderful because I could create art with rubber stamps.

Have you used any unusual item in your stamping?
Let’s see, I’ve used bottle caps, dominos and other game pieces, paint strips (from Home Depot) but I suppose anything could be incorporated into an art piece.

Any favorite websites you would recommend for inspiration?
My favorite is our own OSA. I have spent hours and hours enjoying the gallery of our members and I never tire of it.

Do you have a day job when you're not stamping?
Not any longer. I retired as Assistant to the Director of our local Department of Child Support Services in 2004.

Tell us about your family and where you live.
I live in Oroville, California which is about 80 miles north of Sacramento. I have been married to my DH (Duane) for almost 29 years. I have 3 sons, 2 step-daughters, 2 step-sons and we have 14 grandchildren. We have 2 cats that run the house; Tuffy, who we raised from the day she was born because her mama abandoned her (she is 8 years old now and is as tall as she is round, she weighs 15 pounds) and Cross-eye, he’s part Siamese, and is 10 years old.
